Editorial by Isaiah Carlson, Candidate for County Board, District 16:
My name is Isaiah Carlson, and I am running to represent you on the Green County Board. I would like to share with you some of the values that are important to me as a candidate:
Focusing on individuals: For most of my life, I have had much interaction with senior citizens and special needs children. I have seen first-hand how easy it is for these individuals to get lost in an inefficient “system.” Local government should not view people as a class or statistic, but as individuals with rights and needs.
Building a Strong Community: Whether it be the $30 trillion federal debt, skyrocketing prices and inflation, a disregard for the Constitution, or just a lack of common sense, our federal government is heading in the wrong direction. It falls on local government to pick up the pieces. Now more than ever, we need local officials who will promote efficient, responsible budgeting and who will defend the Constitution as written.
Sharing transparent information: I have heard concerns regarding various local issues, such as road quality, internet speed, or clean water. You have a right to know how the County is addressing such concerns. I will be open and honest with you by writing to local newspapers, putting together an email list, or doing whatever else is necessary to keep you informed.
I ask you to consider voting for me on April 5. Please contact me if you have any questions or thoughts.
